Big thanks to Skinny Cow® for sponsoring this post.
A couple weeks ago, I brought you a post on how to live the impossibly good life (you can see it here) so today I’m concluding this series with yet another post on how to live the best possible life you can with my simple tips!
Rule No. 1: Worry only about the things that are in your control, the things that can be influenced and changed by your actions, not by the things that are beyond your capacity to direct or alter.
While we cannot control all of the outcomes we seek in life, we certainly can control our responses to these outcomes and in turn lies our potential for a life that is both happy and fulfilled. Basically – don’t sweat the small stuff!
Rule No. 2: Laugh as much as you can!
There is a reason people say “Laughter is the Best Medicine”. It not only makes us feel good but has positive effects on our immune system and decreases our stress hormones. It is even contagious – next time you see someone smiling or laughing try not to smile – seriously, I dare you! Even when you’ve had a really bad day a good laugh can quickly pull your mood up. I try to laugh as often as I can and it truly is the best medicine out there, especially that can’t-stop uncontrollable laughing. Just remember that while happiness leads to smiles, smiles also lead to happiness. Simply the best!
Rule No. 3: Learn to focus on the present.
The past is unchangeable so it is unimportant to reflect on it unless you are making sure you do not repeat past mistakes. The future is a result of your actions today. So learn from the past to do better in the present so that you can succeed in the future.
Rule No. 4: Help Others
Helping people has a ripple effect. If you help someone they will feel more obliged to help someone else, and so on. Pay it forward. Not only with people, help animals! I recently took a cat in and mind you – I am not a cat person BUT you grow by giving and helping others animal or people. It can change you in ways you never expected. Other reasons?
– It’s the most fulfilling thing you can do on this planet.
– You will feel like a good person.
– Karma (cuz, well, I believe in it…)
– Because you’re not the only person in this world..
Rule No. 5: Indulge
Take time out of your busy lives and enjoy the things you love! Life’s short so why not indulge!? I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll say it again, for me I love to indulge in my favorite chocolates – the Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates. They are a perfect blend of chocolate and caramel and get me feeling ready to take on the world. Plus they give me just that extra “thing” I needed! Remember, life’s too short – indulge a little!!
Rule No. 6: Learn to be unaffected by the words of others.
Most people get very upset when they are called negative names by others, but there is a simple trick to overcoming this. Deep in YOUR mind you know they are saying something about you that is completely untrue, right? They are foolish for saying such things, so why would you react with such anger? The only exception is when someone calls you something that is true! In this case, you should thank them for alerting you to a weakness, one that you can now work on changing. In the blogging world I am faced with issues like this and I try not to give those people the satisfaction of letting their mean comments get to me and neither should you!
Rule No. 7: Relax a little!
This one is for you workaholics out there (myself included). Yes, work is very important and productive but you need to take some time to chill out everyday or you are going to burn out faster than a candle with no oxygen. Additionally, you need to reward yourself for a job well done. What’s the use of doing all of that work if you can’t have a little fun from time to time anyways?
Hope you all found a little bit of inspiration from today’s post!!

Thank you for posting this! It’s always nice to be reminded that it’s ridiculous to feel bad about indulging once in a while. I completely agree about not getting upset about things you can’t control, a major waste of time and of precious energy!

Great tips! I definitely think it’s important to stop worrying about the things we can’t control. As I always tell my toddler “no, reason to get upset over something we can’t change”. This concept makes us happier
