It’s no secret we all want long healthy hair, right? If it seems like your hair just isn’t growing as quickly as you’d like, it may be time to look to your hair care routine to get longer and stronger hair in no time. Today I’m rounding up my 5 tips to keep hair long and healthy. And, if you’re not much of a long hair person, use these tips to keep you hair shorter but full and strong at any length you prefer! Hope you enjoy!
#1 Get Frequent Trims – yes, really…
I know, I know.. everyone HATES hearing this one, especially when they want to grow their hair out. It’ like the devil telling you what you don’t want to hear. I hate to say it but it’s SO true. If you want long hair that’s actually Healthy, you need to get regular trims. It’s not exactly that GETTING the trim makes you hair grow faster, it’s just that it gets rid of the split ends that break your hair. When you get rid of all that breakage, it gives the appearance that your hair is growing a lot faster.
#2 Keep your scalp healthy.
Think of your hair like a tree – if the soil and roots aren’t taken care of, the tree can’t grow tall and solid. Hair growth starts with a healthy scalp. When you cleanse and treat your scalp with healthy ingredients you produce strong beautiful hair. I use only the top quality shampoos and conditioners and use a deep conditioning hair mask once a week at least to give my hair back any nutrients it needs. When I get out of the shower, my hair is SO soft and silky, it feels amazing. Another question I get asked sometimes is for people who experience hair loss or thinning. For people with these kinds of issues I still recommend using high quality products and I also recommend using a type of re-growth product such as Women’s Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Scalp Treatment. It is FDA-approved and is clinically proven to help regrow hair in women. I personally like the foam form that only has to be applied once a day! It helps reactivate hair follicles to regrow up to 25% more hair in 3 months. And the new hair comes in thicker too. A lot of people think it is only for older women, but in fact it is for most women experiencing hair loss. It is a great product for anyone wanting to restore hair fullness!
#3 Stop abusing it with heat styling tools.
The biggest culprit that’s ruining your hair: damage from hot tools. Stop over styling your hair if you really want to make an impact in the condition of your hair. If you must use heat, try to decrease the temperature and always using a heat protectant — otherwise, you risk damaging your locks, leading to breakage and frizz.
#4 Skip the daily shampoo.
Good news: Your hair care routine just got a whole lot simpler! I honestly only shampoo my hair two to three times a week since this allows natural oils to penetrate hair—hydrating and repairing itself. Over shampooing can dry out your hair and strip it of all those natural oils that are actually SO beneficial for the condition of your hair!
#5 Stop doing trendy “cleanses.”
Diet companies may try to convince you that a “cleanse” will turn your whole life around but doing a cleanse is terrible for your hair because you’re depriving your body of nutrients. After doing a cleanse even for a week, you’ll notice slower hair growth and lackluster locks. So skip the cleanse and just eat healthy!! 🙂
