In honor of one of my latest TV obsessions coming back for season 2 – TV Land’s Younger, I wanted to create a fun blog post around it! If you guys haven’t seen the show, it is a total MUST watch! Basically it is all about a single mother who gets mistaken for younger than she really is and eventually decides to just take the chance to reboot her career and love life as a 26 year old instead of her 40 year old self! It’s a completely addictive show that I guarantee will become your new favorite series and you’ll probably want to go back and binge watch season 1!
Because of the season 2 premiere, I wanted to give you all some fun makeup tips to turn back time instantly making you look and feel younger as well!
While skipping a blush when you were very young may have been an option, in your 30’s and beyond this is one mistake you should never make. As we age, our cheeks lose much of that natural glow we had when we were younger, but that doesn’t mean we can’t fake it! For aging skin, a cream blush works great or I love to use the one powder one above by MAC in Margin which has a dewy effect giving it that same type of look. Pick a rosy or pink/peach shade to give your face an instant youthful glow.
As your skin loses elasticity, your eyelids begin to droop. To fake lifted eyes you need a good lash curler. After you do this, you want to hold them in place with a mascara. This is really going to help to drastically open up your eyes more than you normally would.
The anti-aging skin care routine you apply to your face should extend to your lips. The skin on your lips is actually thinner than the skin on the rest of your face (not to mention, your lips don’t contain oil glands to keep them hydrated), which causes them to shrivel and shrink as you age. For long-term protection, use a lip balm with sunscreen and keep them moisturized at night. Also, choose lipsticks in shades of mauve and pink — these help define your lips and add a youthful rosiness without drawing attention to the fact that they’re thinning (like, say, a deep red or a plum would).
To minimize the look of crow’s feet, use a concealer with a pink or pinkish-beige tone to cancel out the color. For medium to olive skin tones, look for peachy undertones in your concealer. Since crow’s feet tend to angle down, apply concealer in an upward motion
Brows thin out and droop as we get older but that doesn’t mean you can’t make yourself look younger with a couple quick tips. Make sure to lift your brows by applying a powder or brow pencil along the top line of the tail of your brows. Then, fill in any sparse areas lightly and brush through for a soft but defined look. You will be surprised what a difference brows make in the face and instantly change how young you can look!
Hope you all enjoyed these quick tips to look a little younger inspired by one of my latest obsessions – TV Land’s Younger! Make sure to tune into the Season 2 premiere of Younger Wednesday, January 13 @ 10/9c!
