What if you were asked the question, “If you could give your future self any advice, what would it be?”

As an Esthetician, that question can go so many ways and is actually a very exciting topic in my eyes. With my profession, I have seen so many women of all ages who have always told me they would have done differently with their skin had they known at an earlier age. I’ve taken all of that advice and molded it into my thoughts and beliefs on the topic of skin care and now know exactly how to treat my skin as I age – but of course, I’m learning along the way as well. Here are my 6 tips to youthful skin.
1 – Wear sunscreen
Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays with an SPF of 30 or higher, even on cloudy days. Also don’t forget to reapply your sunscreen every two to three hours when you’re outdoors.
2 – Don’t smoke.
For the sake of your overall health and well as your appearance – just don’t do it.
3 – Invest in a good skin care regimen & keep it simple.
Find the products that work for you and don’t have a bag full of products you rotate out and use occasionally. Stick to something that works and invest in a good regimen – it really makes a difference. A cleanser, toner and moisturizer like the Clinique 3 Step System is a perfect simplified regimen. The simpler the regimen, the more likely you are to follow it.
4 – Balance your Life
Regular sleep, exercise and good nutrients will make a difference in your skin.
5 – Hydrate
Sipping on water may seem like very basic advice, but it’s an essential step in the quest for glowing skin. I am still working on this step myself, but it truly is a necessity!
6 – Mask it Up!
Masks are part of any clear-skinned woman’s regimen. I do it for such a long time that it has just become a habit. Find a mask with a couple ingredients that work for you and keep it on rotation. You will see a big difference if you keep at it!
