I am often getting asked a bit about my daily routines (fitness, skincare, and beauty tricks) so I wanted to create a post all about how I stay fresh faced & confident when it comes to all those life and you know… beauty things 😉
Skincare. Anyone who knows me knows I have a thing about skincare. I have taken tremendously good care of my skin since I was 12 years old thanks to my Esthetician mother who made sure of it — and, I can’t thank her enough. The one thing I learned throughout the years? Wash your face morning and night. No matter what. Even when it’s 2am and you’re stumbling home after that party and the only thing you want to do is have your head hit the pillow. You will thank me the next morning. Night time is the most crucial time for your skin, and if you leave all that makeup overnight you are going to do harm to your skin and most likely clog your pores causing that nasty pimple you really hate. Sorry ladies — it’s true! The other key step to good skincare is to moisturize. As an esthetician you don’t know how many times I hear clients tell me they don’t moisturize or put anything on their skin morning or night. It makes me cringe and I’m shocked! It’s soo important! No matter if you have oily or dry skin, giving your skin moisture is SO key! Believe it or not, a lot of the time it helps with problem skin and fights against aging and we all want to prevent wrinkles for as long as possible. If you are lacking moisture, the Olay Regenerist Luminous Facial Oil is enriched with 9 luxurious natural oils to hydrate the skin and bring life to dull skin. It’s all natural formula is lightweight, non-greasy, dye and fragrance-free.
Work it. I hate to say it but I am not a crazy fitness fanatic but I do think everything in moderation is key. I enjoy working out (when I have time) but for the most part I try to engage in things that get me outdoors and active. I recently got a bike and use it quite frequently. I even take my dog with me and put him in the little basket! It’s a fun activity that definitely gets my heart pumping, plus I get to be outdoors. It’s something about the fresh air that rejuvenates and makes me feel refreshed. I do Pilates often to work on my muscles but again– I’m not a fanatic about it. Just staying active is good for me whether that be walking my dog, kayaking, bike riding or just cleaning my house — hey, it’s a big house!
Green Juices. The thought of green juices used to disgust me until I actually gave it a shot and really loved it. I don’t actually eat my greens quite often so I try to make smoothies and drinks to include them in. It’s a delicious way to get all my daily nutrients and I don’t feel bad about it. Not only is it with green juices, but I try to make natural and healthy fruit smoothies/drinks almost everyday. I also put ground flaxseed in my drinks since it has TONS of healthy components like Omega 3 Fatty Acids, Fiber and since I don’t eat a lot of meat I usually add a little protein powder to my smoothies.
Makeup. Believe it or not, makeup does get old and sometimes you just have to part ways with it to protect your skin which is what I do regularly so here are my makeup expiration dates:
Mascara: 2-3 months or as soon as you see it getting clumpy
Foundation & Concealer: 6-12 months
Lipstick: 2 years // Lipgloss: 1 year
Nail Polish: 2 years
Powder, Eye Shadow & Blush: 2 years
Fragrances: 8-10 years
Lotion: 2 years
How do you guys stay fresh faced & confident?
