We were told by good friends that while there we had to visit the restaurant, Luis. Luis is a beachfront restaurant with tables and multi colored chairs parked literally in the sand. Lunch is an offering of the fresh catch of the day although there are other options as well. After one of the most perfect beach days, we had lunch at Luis with our feet in the sand and were served probably the best Pina Colada I have ever tasted — in a fresh Pineapple. Take me back…. sigh.

If you are looking for a white sand beach with turquoise blue water and plenty of shady palm trees then look no further than Playa Coson. Let me tell you, it was hard to pick my favorite beach while there but this one may have bumped its way up to the top. Coson is the furthest west beach in Las Terrenas and (in my opinion) the most spectacular. When I visited, it was towards the end of our trip and I think I had to pick my jaw up after seeing the expanse of white sand — it was like out of a postcard or magazine. Plus, I couldn’t believe how relatively empty it was!
