I’m back home (sadly) from my beyond amazing vacation to the Dominican Republic! I was there for 9 days although it felt more like a quick weekend 🙁 I have been to the Caribbean once before when I was about 10 or 11 and have been dying to go back since. My mother grew up in the Caribbean so she always made sure to tell me about her amazing adventures and love of the islands. A few years ago she visited the Dominican Republic and absolutely fell in love — so much so that she bought a home there — and I’m not complaining! Most people who are heading to the DR vacation in Punta Cana where you will find all the popular resorts and such however, our home (and where I spent the last week) is located in Las Terrenas on the Samana Peninsula and let me tell you — once you see it you will be convinced Punta Cana is a thing of the past! Okay okay, I may be a little biased but see for yourself!
Las Terrenas is the heart of the action on the Samana Peninsula. It is fun and lively, with an international crowd, smaller (charming) hotels, cafes, bars & some of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. From the moment you are there you sense the carefree spirit of the locals that it’s almost contagious. There’s just something about this town that makes you never want to leave. In the set of photos above, I was at one of the beaches just next to our home– you could literally walk here! Miles and miles of beaches and hundreds of coconut trees all lined up along the sand. In fact, Samana has the highest number of Coconut trees in all of the Caribbean — pretty amazing right?!
