of course the crisp, refreshing Stella Artois Cidre in a beautiful
setting. I took my Mother to the event since we love nights like this. Plus, since Stella is a Belgian beer, what better way than to celebrate it with two Frenchies?! 😉 Hey, the French don’t only just love wine!
The event took place at the Epic Sky rooftop in the lovely city of Chicago. It was a beautiful night & I got to meet so many great people while there. In addition to the Cidre, there was music, food offerings & a competitive game of “boules.” Boules is game in which the objective is to throw or roll heavy balls (called boules in French) close as possible to a small target ball. We had fun watching this since it is a game my Mother grew up with it in France. She said it is so popular and that in the South of France it is played all the time and she also referred to is as the game of “petanque.” What a fabulous way for Stella to bring a little of Europe to the event.
Now, lets be honest here. Cidre beers usually scare me. I think cidre = sweet = bad headache. I promise — Not this one! Stella’s new Cidre is a crisp and refreshing European style cider made from hand-picked apples. It is so light, refreshing and surprisingly not overly sweet. The Cidre was poured into white wine glasses for the evening which I thought was completely unique for a beer, however so fitting once you have a sip and perfect for the stunning apple orchard setting!
I’m not one to usually buy beer for my own home (I’m usually a wine-o),
however, this one will definitely be finding its way into my fridge
sooner rather than later. What do you guys think?
