A few days ago I told you guys that I was about to start a 3 day juice cleanse to kick start my summer beach bod & rid myself of all toxins. I chose to go with Detox Lounge, a popular San Diego facility which provides fresh pre-packaged juice cleanses. Here was my full 3 days worth:
pounds of fresh raw fruits and vegetables providing more minerals and
enzymes than the average American consumes in a year! All of the juices
are freshly pressed, producing 70 percent more nutrients than most
cylindrical juicers, and they’re digested faster and easier. I was interested in boosting
energy, giving my skin a youthful glow, and losing weight by incorporating these juices into my regular diet. Detox Lounge offers three- and five-day
juice cleanse programs to help jumpstart your body’s health
renaissance. I chose to go with the 3 day program.
Here is a summary of each juice I consumed for the first day (and for the remaining part of the cleanse):
8am – Awaken My Body: Energize and detoxify your body with a rejuvenating morning wakeup call. Consists of carrot, pineapple, green apple, orange, grapefruit and lemon juice.
10am – Energize My Body: A refreshing, strengthening drink loaded with the vegetables your body needs for a boost of protein. Consists of green apple, cucumber, celery, spinach, kale, mint and collard juice.
12pm – Fuel My Body Soak up a delicious “salad in a bottle” for lunch and get all the essential nutrients your body needs for a mid-day boost. Consists of cucumber, celery, spinach, green leaf lettuce,
romaine, green bell pepper, fennel, kale, parsley, lemon, cilantro and
organic balsamic vinegar juice.
2pm – Motivate My Body: An explosion of antioxidants and a burst of vitamins to get you through the afternoon lull. Consists of carrot, cucumber, orange, celery, spinach, beet, rainbow chard and kale juice.
4pm – Satisfy My Body: Fight the late-day stress with a drink packed with Vitamin C and other nutrients that help stave off those caffeine cravings. Consists of green apple, red cabbage, red leaf lettuce, romaine,
Swiss chard, red bell pepper, watercress, basil and lemon juice.
6pm – Relax My Body: Wind down and build up your immune system with a drink designed to help release bad fats from your body. Consists of carrot, sweet potato, red bell pepper, tomato, beet, cucumber, broccoli, ginger and lime juice.
Day 1 went relatively well. I had absolutely no cravings and no hunger throughout the day. Some of the juices took a little getting used to. My absolute favorites were (8am, 10am & 4pm). Least favorite was 2pm but then again I’m not a huge fan of beets so that is my downfall! You kind of go into cleansing knowing that it’s not going to taste like a strawberry smoothie but my first thought when I started was, “how in the world am I going to be able to keep a green or purple drink down?!” Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised with the taste and the effect it had on me throughout the day. I totally thought I’d be dying of hunger but these juices really do it for you. The only thing that takes some getting used to is not really sitting down for a meal. After work I tend to love plopping down on my couch, turning on some Bravo nonsense & completely engulf my food. I’ll be happy to say I was a LOT more productive Day 1! Lets see how Day 2 turns out…
