I used to always want to be stick thin, however, as I got older I started to love having a little meat on my bones & started envying girls who had the beautiful “womanly” bodies with just the right amount of “curve.” I admit, I (along with most women in America) have obsessed here and there about my body but now have learned to live with what I have & just take care of it. I think the most attractive thing about a woman is the different bodies we all have & trust me, we don’t want to be stick thin. Plus, I hear guys don’t like it 😉 What’s the fun in never enjoying pizza, ice cream, chocolate & all the delicious things this world has to offer?!
With that being said, a few months ago I was feeling a lot of fatigue, lack of energy, bloating,
anxiety and overall just felt in a FUNK. You know that time when your
jeans start to feel tight & you start freaking out at the fact that
you might have to go up a size? I refused to let this happen so I
decided to do a short 3 day cleanse to get rid of my cravings, get rid
of that bloating & jump start me being back to healthy. It was not at all to lose an enormous amount of weight, just to get my body back on track. Plus, 3 days was the perfect amount. After the cleanse, I felt increased energy, better sleep, less bloating & overall better mood.
Honestly, I don’t have the time to juice my own juices five times a day, so when searching I went for the prepared juices. I looked at a few, some of which provide you with all the juices bottled up with specific directions on the time of day to drink them all which was very convenient but way too expensive for me. When one of my clients told me about the Suja Juices I was convinced. They sold them at my local Whole Foods & were much more affordable than the others I had researched. Suja Juice is a complete line of raw, fresh pressed juice that is 100% USDA certified organic. Keep in mind, however, each juice is about $7-8. The average Suja drink takes more than 2 pounds of fruits and vegetables to make. As I’m sure many of you know, organic fruits & veggies are expensive so this is why. Another reason why I love this line is all juices are made fresh here in San Diego.

Before the Cleanse:
A couple of days prior to beginning your cleanse, it is a good idea to
start eliminating coffee, alcohol, dairy, red meat, sugar, and white
flour and bread products. Maximizing fruits, vegetables, and whole
grains will make the transition into your cleanse much easier!
During the Cleanse: (The order in which you should consume the juices)
There were a few that I was not so crazy about and a few that I absolutely loved. My recommendation is to try one of each and see which flavors appeal most to you. Then substitute your favorites with those. If you can stick to the above regimen it is ideal. My favorites were Glow, Fuel and Green Supreme. Vanilla Cloud is absolutely to die for. It tastes like heaven in a bottle. MMmm.
After the Cleanse:
Your body has been hard at work detoxifying and resting your digestive
tract. You want to ease it back into its normal function by introducing
gentle foods first. Your first meals should be smoothies, soups, salads,
and veggies, or lighter proteins like beans or steamed fish. With each
meal, gradually re-introduce heavier foods one at a time to give your
body a chance to catch up.
What if I MUST eat something during the cleanse?!
For best results, it is recommended to stick to the juices. However,
if you are active, pregnant, or just plain hungry, that’s ok! The safest
foods to consume are raw fruits and veggies, half an avocado, a baked
sweet potato, or broth-based soups.
The first day I was fine. I consumed about 4-5 juices during the day and felt fine at the end of the day. I didn’t feel hungry at all. The second day was still ok but a little more rough. I started feeling a little more fatigue & got a headache (which is normal as the body detoxifies). The Vanilla Cloud at the end of the day definitely made me feel better as it was a little dessert satisfaction. The third day, I’m going to be honest, was pretty tough but not impossible. After the third day when the cleanse was over it was a little difficult incorporating food back into my body. I would get full very easily or not be hungry at all. Gradually it got easier and I began feeling great. I had more energy, I felt better, happier & I definitely felt lighter. To be honest, with my experience, I stuck only to the juices & didn’t stray but I was
getting to the point where I wanted to scarf down any kind of food near
me, so in the future I might have some raw fruits or veggies just to
get that “chewing” satisfaction when I get desperate. In all, the cleanse was a great experience and I will definitely do again. I’m actually considering doing it again in March/April time because I miss the feeling I had immediately after doing it!
